  Image System Analysis Overview

What is Image System Analysis?

Image System Analysis is a step-by-step examination of all aspects of imaging, both conventional and digital, specifically the myriad of factors that affect an image. ITT is the acknowledged world leader in this area.

How Does It Work?

Image System Analysis determines optical and focal plane performance as a first step. In subsequent steps, the process evaluates how light source, vehicle motion, target image, atmospheric effects, data compression and transmission, ground processing, printing and display can influence the content, utility and perception of the received image. These evaluations do more than reveal whether a system can resolve objects of a certain size on the ground. They help us determine the imagery's edge sharpness, color balance, brightness, and tone and contrast levels, among other effects. By qualifying and quantifying image quality in this way, we can identify system weaknesses, and recommend important trade-offs that will optimize and enhance your system design and its cost.

Why Conduct Image System Analysis?

By applying Image System Analysis early in the design process, our image scientists can give you piece of mind about the quality of your imaging system and the final imagery it will produce.

Our very broad experience allows us to define user requirements, evolve exploitation algorithms, generate precise image and systems simulations, provide system design and optimization, develop and optimize image processing parameters and databases, and create the physical photographic system to meet program objectives.
