GeoEye-1 First Images

Initial images have been released following the successful September 6th, 2008 launch of GeoEye’s GeoEye-1 earth imaging satellite. All images were captured by the advanced onboard imaging payload, developed and built by ITT’s Space Systems Division. GeoEye-1 has the ability to collect images at 0.41-meter panchromatic (black and white) and 1.65-meter multispectral (color) resolution. The first image of Kutztown University was produced by fusing the satellite’s panchromatic and multispectral data to produce a high-quality, true-color half-meter ground resolution image.
