IDL - Turn data into information In 1977, ITT Visual Information Solutions, formerly Research Systems, Inc., introduced IDL to the space sciences community as a pioneering programming language for visualizing and analyzing complex datasets. This new development platform gave scientists and researchers a unique set of capabilities, including mathematically robust analysis tools, and progressive methods for creating graphical representations to easily interpret data. Today, many scientific, educational and research communities have adopted the IDL computing environment as the tool of choice for extracting information from complex data and imagery. The IDL data analysis and visualization environment continues to grow as an essential scientific tool, and has been integral to space discoveries, medical and physics research, meteorological applications, and optics innovations. ENVI -Extract information from geospatial imagery In 1994, ITT Visual Information Solutions introduced ENVI, a premier software solution for processing and analyzing geospatial imagery and data gathered from airborne and satellite sensors. Developed using IDL, ENVI combines a flexible and powerful image visualization engine with scientific algorithms and automated processes to help image scientists and analysts get meaningful information from imagery and data. With the growing use of satellite and aerial imagery over the last decade for scientific, commercial and defense and intelligence applications, ENVI has become a leading software platform for analyzing remotely-sensed imagery. ENVI offers advanced image processing tools for use in a variety of applications including environmental analysis, target detection, change detection and disaster recovery. IAS - Deliver imagery to the field quickly In 2003, ITT released Image Access Solutions (IAS), a revolutionary image compression and delivery technology that uses the JPEG 2000 standard of image compression. IAS allows users to compress and deliver large geospatial imagery to remote users - even when network bandwidth is limited. The IAS solution enables virtually anyone with a computer and a network connection to use imagery to help them make accurate, informed decisions.
