ITT's ANGEL Services recognized by AGA as a provider of Upstream Green services

ROCHESTER, N.Y, June 12, 2009 — ITT Corporation announced today that its Airborne Natural Gas Emission Lidar (ANGEL) Services was selected as an upstream green company by the American Gas Association (AGA) for its natural gas leak detection and quantification capabilities.

The AGA recognizes businesses for their dedication and commitment to reducing carbon-footprint upstream of the gas meter. The selection was announced on Tuesday, May 19th at the AGA operations conference & biennial exhibition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"By providing greenhouse gas emissions detection and quantification services, ITT ANGEL Services is able to enhance public safety, help our customers save money while complying with reporting requirements, and promote environmental stewardship," said Daniel Brake, director, ITT ANGEL Services. "Our environmentally-oriented services and capabilities help keep billions of cubic feet of otherwise fugitive greenhouse gas emissions under customers' control rather than simply ending up in the atmosphere."

ITT's ANGEL Services utilizes differential absorption lidar (DIAL) laser technology to effectively and efficiently pinpoint natural gas pipeline leaks and emissions that current industry and regulatory best practices are missing. These leaks and emissions have a major impact on the environment; methane is a greenhouse gas (GHG) with over 20 times the atmospheric impact of carbon dioxide (CO2), the standard for GHG impact measures.

ITT's ANGEL Services provides broad area and facility level aerial survey capabilities that deliver 100% survey coverage over areas of three or more square miles per day. These enhanced capabilities assist in detecting, locating and quantifying methane emissions that are difficult or impossible to find using ground-based techniques.

Additionally, ANGEL Services can quantify emission flow rates and pinpoint emission sources with precise GIS data. With ANGEL Services, industry and government can gauge the positive impacts and reduced carbon footprint from activities that reduce methane emissions while simultaneously giving rise to carbon-credit trading opportunities.
